Work on internships while you're still in school. A lot of schools have programs you can use, and that stuff really helps.

I'm really getting glad that NaNo is almost over. But then I remembered I pledged I would continue the dedication to my writing and I was like "oh man."

I feel suddenly experienced. I've worked in and out of cafes, for an events company that does high end charity functions and celebrity galas, run a couple bars, ambassadored for the events company, worked in PR, done more in PR, written for various magazines and done reception for music festivals across the UK and then also worked at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival as a FOH.
I do apply for around a hundred jobs every two-three months though.

I'm also feeling shit though because I'm fairly certain that my supervisor for my dissertation thinks I can't do this.

Go all Rosie on his ass. You can do it! (Wait...does Rosie the Riveter translate overseas?)
I think the issue between Britain and America is that people don't give experience to uneducated, inexperienced people. You won't be writing for magazines unless you've got a journalism degree and AT LEAST 3-5 years of experience. OR you start your own blog, network the hell out of yourself, and hope someone notices enough to hire you. Giving an inexperienced teenager/20-something a job or even an internship is, I guess, synonymous with giving someone a handout. Which Americans don't need 'cause that's socialism, or something.
So, basically, you have 4 years of college with which to get excellent grades, be involved in as many extracurricular activities as possible, AND get internships to pad your eventual resume. Problem being, most kids have to work almost full time just to afford college without buttloads of debt. So, it's either go so far into debt you can't afford the payments OR it's be fiscally responsible but have no chance in hell of getting a job. Michael chose the former, I chose the latter. So he's got a job as an engineer, but most of his income goes to paying off debt, and I work at Starbucks, but most of my money goes to everything else.
This country sucks sometimes. Everyone wants to be an individual, and they think that helping people out is the equivalent of "handouts" to the lazy. People really seem to think that most people on welfare (benefits) are lazy, good-for-nothing mooches who don't want to work and just want everyone to take care of them. Which is absolutely ridiculous. Welfare has a job requirement, for one. And a lot of these people can't get jobs elsewhere, can't afford to go to school to get a better one, and no one will give them the chance to gain experience in any other manner. For another, a few bad apples does not the entire program destroy.
Buuuuut back on politics. And that sucks. But it's difficult to juggle everything. Between school, work, internships, having a healthy social life (which is a necessity as we are social creatures--I really think people who say going out for a drink is just a distraction have probably never worked hard a day in their lives), and family obligations...I'm surprised more university students don't kill themselves.

Also, I hate writing speeches. Or really any kind of paper in general.

I have 5k words left to write. Luckily once I make it through today, I'll have no more speech to work on and I'll be done with a majority of my work. So if I can get some writing time, I'll definitely get 50k words, but yeah so not going to be done with the novel then. @_@

Nah. 50k isn't a novel. It's a novella at most.

I don't even know what I'm supposed to do in that campfire. xD It's already my turn and that isn't exactly what I wanted to see when I still have my NaNo to contend with. lol.

Um...your eventual role is to be the breach into the other realm and then the anchor for the spell to end the stasis spell. But for now, you get to wander around...doing stuff.

Have any of you ever written something and thought it was so great you found yourself reading over the line or paragraph multiple times?

There are a couple of things, yeah. One or two of the additions to Renegade were like that for me. Mostly, though, I'll write something, think it's pretty good at the time, and then...like months later, I'll be re-reading it and go, "HOLY CRAP, THAT WAS AWESOME!"
Does that count?

YES.
I like it best when I read things (often on CFs) and I go - wow that addition is awesome - and then I realise I wrote it.
I'm a typically arrogant self-hating artist you know.
