"But seriously I can't see backbacking from the east coast to the west coast. Sounds rather boring lol. America doesn't have much to offer other then long drawn out landscape lol."
Beast - America is INCREDIBLE. At least in terms of the landscape. Yeah Britain has a very particular beauty and I'd never ever think of anywhere else truly as home, but I went from San Fran to New York, cutting through Yosemite and Bishop and Vegas and Carlsbad and New Orleans and so so much more - it was awesome. Like... climbing to the top of Nevada Falls - pretty intense. Swimming in a glacier lake - little bit mental. Salt flat - scorching and surreal. Going from desert to 'Paradise', Texas. Yeh. And the towns? The local cultures?
Like New Orleans, first time I went I was in the French Quarter but the second we stayed out in the rainbow district and it was wicked. It's so European and higgledy-piggledy and like no where else. I loved that place. And the accent.
I was in NC and I suppose there's probably something to be said about sex in a foreign country. I think it's also about the fact that you feel more adventurous when you're off home turf. That and American universities are full of seriously attractive people. Even if they do dress funny. ha ha ha.

Yeah. The southern portion of the state is not only tropical, it's a swamp. The Everglades. I'm equidistant between Disney and Key West, too, so that's fun.

So, I just went and officially won NaNo! YAY me!
The second I hit 50k, I stopped writing. Well, that's not true. I wrote 2000 words toward Rebel. But since then...nothing. Wow, do I have no discipline. Frankly, I think it's because I finished right on time for Thanksgiving.
Also, who wants to start a charity with me? I'm going to call it Cookies for Cashiers, and it'll be devoted to providing snacks and drinks and support for all retail employees on Black Friday. Some of us will have to go in and deliver at, like, 2am...but whatevs. I'm up at that time of the night, anyway.

Yeah. About 45 minutes north of the Miami-Dade County line...provided that traffic is normal. It can take 2 hours in rush hour...

Swamp, darling. During the spring and summer months, we rain pretty much every day. Sometimes it comes late and we rain for summer and fall. So half the month is hot, humid, and rainy and the other half is sunny, dry and (mostly) cooler. Occasionally, we dip into the 30s-40s overnight and, very rarely, the 20s. But for the summer months, it's in the lower 90s with TONS of humidity, and the winter months are typically in the mid 70s and sunny.
I'll admit, I live here for the winter months. If I were rich, I'd probably live up north in the summer and down here in the winter, just like all the other snowbirds.
Also, Matt isn't scary! He's English.
I will grant you that English sports fans are scary. They make us look positively polite in comparison.

Lots of snowbirds come for our very mild winters here. I want to go live somewhere it snows during the winter because snow is awesome. And also there must be rain. I'm so sick of sunshine 365 days of the year. >_>

I must admit I love Texas Rains. The air has a dusty scent that is rather invigorating to my senses. The rains whether in a steady cover or pelting down in sheets has a music all it's own and i can't help but stare out the windows at it for hours. Even when I brave into it... It's cool and warm all at once, neither leaving your cold or feeling weighed down. The air cools to a gentle 70-75 (which is truly perfect Texas temperature in my opinion. Much better then the average 115). The only problem is when the rain stops and the sun returns to it's throne over the valley and the humidity skyrockets making the 115 weather feel more like 135! lol

England isn't scary, Mynt. And I promise if you ever cross the pond, I'll make sure the neds and chavs shan't even be seen.
Actually, to be fair, I worked at Wembley Stadium (our biggest football ground - pretty famous too???) for years and even when they've called in the police, the fans haven't been that scary. It's just if they ask if you're a christian, never tell them what kind. Especially in Scotland. And aetheism, paganism etc will not get you out of any weird fixes. There's still a catholic/protestant thing going on.
But yeah, we're sound. You should come. Rain, snow, fog, sleet, rivers that are swollen and fields that are frozen and trees that look like skeletons in the winter but turn into great big fluffy green clouds in the summer. Plus there's the moors. Ooooo Quaddy, you'd like those I think.
ALSO CONGRATS TO THE 50K-club. I'm sadly still only in the 30s 'technically'.

I wish I could go over to England. @_@ But I think I need money for that sort of thing, of which I have none.
In NaNo news, I'm back to being behind again. Lol. God I hate homework and really anything school related. >_>

well for $430 you can get a direct return flight (it's cheaper if you go via places) and thennnnn it's only really expensive in London....
You guys seriously need to come over here you know.

I am planning on heading over there eventually. First is Disney in two weeks, of course. But then the vacation fund starts filling up again. It's not quite a jar of pennies, but it's pretty close.

Also, back to the dressing funny. Most of the kids at my school wore shorts and tank tops. Flip-flops were a must. Jeans and t-shirts were the second most common. Come winter is when it gets funny, 'cause dropping below 70 means all the thin-blooded people break out the parkas and the boots.

OK, I'm not *that* poor. Michael and I just have a large part of our money wrapped up in his 401K, some stocks, and stuff. We also have some debt...mostly student loans, but one credit card and a car add up, too...

It's really hard because I don't have any work experience and jobs won't hire people without it but to get it I have to work. @_@
Anyway. I think my story will extend beyond NaNo, which is very scary because I don't know what to do with it. Most of it will probably get chopped off if I ever go back and edit. Plus it took me 43k words just for something interesting to happen. lol

I understand this, definitely. I've a history degree and no experience in history (I did my internship at a baseball stadium because my thesis at the time was on the post-imperial hyper-regional identity crisis that brought about hooliganism in England), so I am stuck at Starbucks for the foreseeable future. Michael works for Blackberry. I'm really hoping that one of the many pots I have my hand in gives me some honey.
