It's this time again, party people. And I thought we should have a special NaNo thread so we can stop clogging up people's campfire threads. So lament, procrastinate, seek inspiration, or cheer on someone else. Whatever.
Yes.
;D

Ah, very awesome thread! I shall use this often during this month. I can already predict a lot of randomness being placed here. :-D

I was literally thinking the same thing. Way to be awesome Mynt!!! Here's the link to my prologue for this year - your opinions actually matter to me (unlike a lot of other readers) so if you have five minutes and feel like it... tell me what you think? thescribblebug.blogspot.co.uk/2012/11/festival-prologue.htmlAll best guys and good luck!!!

I was just about to make one of these Mynt! lol Anyways as a reminder the other nano name I gave you guys was my old one, the one I'm going to be using is PencilBones! My day's score is 3,111. I doubt I'll be able to do so much everyday but we'll see lol Wow Matt (I think that's Dragoon's name), I'm liking your story so far, even if I was totally blow away by how very solid it is already, lol. Was it something you'd written already as a prologue to the Nano challenge or as part of it? (if you wrote that today fully edited I'm going to be jealous.)

Sounds interesting Matt. o:
I haven't written anything yet. Overslept and just got home from running errands. @_@ Not a great start to NaNo. Lol.

Sorry beast, the prologue was written pretty much as is at about 12am on the 1st. Chapter one isn't looking good, but is up on The Scribble Bug as of an hour ago. I'm already at the "WHY DID I DECIDE TO DO THIS?" stage... I think it's because it's so drastically out of my comfort zone.
Well done on the word count! I'm on about 4800 but it's not all joined up yet. Quaddy's doing epic too. I have a feeling we can do this. And Mynt you can catch up, it's day one. type type type! =P

The difference this time is that last year I wrote a novel that had been in my head for two years. This one was kind of spur of the moment let's write a follow up kind of thing. >_> I have no idea what's going to happen. If anything comes out of this month I will be satisfied. xD

As of 1am this morning (which, apparently, still counts as Day1 because of my location), I was at 5011 words. I have to go to work today, so that's why I did it. Not because I love what I've written. Because I don't.
I figured it out, Matt! I don't like it because Hermes is too serious for most of it. But he has to be serious because his world is disappearing and he's dealing with the Fates and then Aphrodite brings up a serious question. He goes back to being not so serious later. Which makes me feel better.
I still can't get over the notion that everything I wrote yesterday will be tossed on the dung heap even though I know it contributes to overall understanding of the world. I've really got to get over the idea that everything I write has to contribute directly to the plot. The reader gets the first clue towards what happens at the end...
Still kind of hate what I wrote, though. But it's day one. It'll get better...
Please, dear God (whichever one wants to listen), let it get better...

I've written twelve thousand words today.
Of job applications and essays. And now I get to look at Festival. FML.

I have chosen to hand write my novel. I think my hand will fall off before the month is over. @_@
I am so envious of you guys and your thousands of words. But on the other hand I'm so happy that you guys havE GOTTEN THIS FAR. WAY TO GO!

I wouldn't be able to read my own writing...
Not that I have bad handwriting. I would just have to scratch things out in order to keep up with my thoughts.
I need to write today...but I am so tired after work. Hopefully, I will get over my post-work malaise and do something useful today.

I have decent handwriting and when I make mistakes I just go "oh well, hope I'll catch it when I type it up." xD
You're doing really awesome though Quadster, but no flagging on the second day!

No...the flagging gets going around week 2.

I'm already behind but it's harder to write fast than to type fast. But I've got roughly 1200 words. Which is pretty good. I think.

1200 is good, especially for hand writing it out. As long as you're happy at the end of the month, that's really what counts.

I think I'll be pretty happy. I've always wanted to write out a novel by hand. It wasn't my first one, so the second one will have to do.
How's it going for you guys? Any big goals planned for the weekend?

I'm just trying to keep a bit of a buffer. I don't write well on the weekends as they're usually my time to detox. Luckily, I have a whole scene mostly written out in my head right now, so I just have to type it down. That should get me to about 8000 words, I think. And that's about average for my chapters, so...YAY!
I really just want to get the thing all typed up so Matt and some of my In-the-Flesh friends (well...I suppose I've met Matt in IRL so I can say he's In-the-Flesh...but you know what I mean) can help me edit it and make it worth while. My dream to be published will hopefully happen yet. I just need my Creative Team.

I'm at 6,127 at the end of day two. I wrote 3,111 the day before and I wrote 1,700 before work and another 1,316 after work. But I was in a pretty good mood today even though my job sucks a nail. So far I'm really going good. Keep this up and I'll have Nano bagged by the 16th, if not at least the buffer is set high, lol.

Yeah, I was like...Hey! If I can write 5000 words a day, I only need 10 days!
Then I remembered that it took me nearly 6 hours to write that 5000 words. I have a horrid attention span for writing. I will type up, like, 200 words and have to go do something else for a while. It's funny...I can read for hours on end and not get bored, but the actual writing...nope.
Even my additions to Rebel take forever. And Mia practically writes for herself these days.

Edit: Final Word Count after Day 2: 7133!

I got to about 1600 and since I didn't write at all yesterday I'm pretty pleased. My hand is tired as all get out. This probably wasn't my best idea but I will not give up!
I am going to have to eventually go through and count these words. *sigh*
I know what you mean about having a short attention span when it comes to writing. I can usually type out a paragraph or two and then suddenly something else seems just too important to put it off any longer. >_> This is why all my additions to everything tend to take so long.

One the attention span, i had trouble with that most of the time but so far... These last two days my writting has been fluid, and i've been in such a decent mood too. It's like i needed to get this out lol.
