Soooo, I will start on my addition this evening and hope to have it up by Wednesday. I was wondering if you wouldn't mind posting the character bio for Bronson's friend (and I will do the same for lily's friend). I am assuming we don't run into Bronson and friend until the ball is that correct? Also, are the Kerry's anyone in particular I should know about? =) Sorry for all the questions.

I don't have any information on Bronson and Lily's friend, so you'd have to send that stuff to me if you want it posted in the campfire. You guys are in charge of making all that stuff up yourselves. And you can "run into" Bronson and his friend before the ball, if you would prefer, and make introductions or you can wait until the ball. This is still a town; people still do things together and meet people in the streets. If Bronson and friend are walking through town and Lily and fam/friends run into them, introductions would be made if the friend (who is local) is already acquainted/friendly with the Langley family. And Kerry is just the name I came up with for the family they're going to have dinner with that night. Gertrude wants to marry one of the daughters off to their son, who is currently in London.

Oh, I was thinking Tileira had already send you the bio for Bronson's friend. oops
I will post Lily's friend's bio here on the forum if that's alright with you. If you prefer it goes in the campfire that I will make it sound pretty, otherwise I will just throw something together to reference.
Would it throw anything off to have Lillian's friend be a Kerry? Perhaps the sister of the bachelor Gertrude is trying to marry off to one of the girls? How does that sound?

Post anything you need to here in the forum. No worries on prettying it up, or anything. And her friend can totally be a Kerry if you want. Not everyone has to have a huge part in the narrative, of course. A lot of my first addition is just getting the right feel for the town/Gertrude/Lily and Danni's relationship, so it really doesn't have to mean anything.
Think of this like a BBC drama...like drawing room dramas a la Austen and whatnot.

eek! opps. It's not a lot, but here was my idea for Bronson's friend: Name: Henry Wincotte Age: Twenty-five Appearance: Henry is not out of place as a country gentleman, and more comfortable in his walking suits than at a London society gathering. Fractionally shorter than Bronson at 5'6, more slender and of a darker complexion he readily falls into Bron's shadow in town. Personality: Henry is a polite and prudent young man. While he's no more lacking than his friend in social skills he lacks the courage and enthusiasm to throw himself wholly into the mess of London circles. Henry would rather be at home where he knows most of the people he must engage with and can expect a dinner party to involve no more people than he can name. Relationship with Family: Henry and his mother have seen two of his sisters confortably settled. He has one more sister of whom he is fond, and is trying to keep Bronson from paying too much attention to. Mrs Wincotte, who is never abashed to express an opinion, is reserving judgement on that front. Relationship with Townsfolk: Henry is known to be a very private person and a dependable one, regularly attending church and never condescending. As much as he fails to share himself he never pries.

Name: Martha Kerry
Age: 22
Appearance: Martha stands at a small 5', her frame perhaps a bit too thin though her pink cheeks are still quite round. Her hair is a dark ash blonde and her eyes are a sweet and expressive hazel green.
Personality: Martha is charming and pleasant, with an easy demeanor and generous heart. She is well educated and has achieved a good amount for a woman of her age.
Relationship with Family: She is the younger sister of Martin Kerry, one of the bachelors Gertrude has her eye on as a potential husband for one of her daughters. He is currently in London. Martha is quite fond of her brother, as well as her parents, and creates little drama or intrigue for anyone in the area.
Relationship with townsfolk: Martha is a sweet and charitable woman, who is well like in the community.

Sorry for the delay, it might be this weekend before I can have it all finished up. Is that alright? Homework is punching me in the face this week.

I hope the addition was alright. I am sorry I didn't add more of your character in there Beast, I didn't want to guess about her demeanor too much without having read an addition or two from her perspective. I know she will be subtle and I didn't want to throw anything off.

No real complaints from me! Just that I'm going to go through and change the numbers into their alphabetic form. Two for 2 and whatnot. My mother used to beat me if I used numerical form for any number less than a thousand. English teachers, man...they're tough.

Sad thing, she really did rap me over the knuckles with a ruler...
No problem, Kat! I notice because it's just a pet peeve. And a pain reflex...
Have I mentioned that English teachers are MEAN?!
Have I also mentioned the administrators at her school threatened to fire her if she even let them touch their literature books. I think she's losing her mind at this point.

I'm not sure I understand. Do you mean text books or school copies of the novels? Is "them" and "their" the students or the administration?
We always wrote notes in pencil on the inside of our books, and for the price of a paperback I wouldn't have objected to paying for my own copy if a bit of charcoal is considered vandalism. I know schools hate replacing things, especially 30+ copies of a book every 3-5 years, but pencil does rub out... and it was always useful to read the notes as I was reading through the page again.

The administration won't let her make the Literature book (a textbook) part of the curriculum. My Mother has always favored a literature-heavy teaching plan; the other stuff tends to come as you begin to understand the language and nuances of the writing. But they said no...
I never wrote in books. They weren't mine to write in.

How do you have a core class without a proper resource being part of the curriculum!?

I can guarantee you similar things are happening where you are, too. Unless it's going to improve their test scores, it doesn't matter. Actually, the running idea is that literature doesn't matter at all; it's just fluff, and won't contribute to anyone's future career or something like that.

Which is why the nation is full of self-indulgent cruel bastards who think nothing of their fellow human beings.

I don't know about that. It's why the nation is filled with idiots, but I'm not sure a lack of education is what makes them cruel. Even the well educated can be horribly self-indulgent and prone to cruelty. But it is contributing to a lack of foresight, critical thinking, and independent mindedness. The uneducated and ill-discerning are easily led. Which is right where businesses want us. I'd say the government, but honestly...no one in government has half a brain, so they're just as bad as the rest of us.

True enough. I've just been becoming more and more certain of the fact that the average person in the states if not the world is cruel-hearted and mean spirited...
