Hm, I don't remember all of it. But basically the land became uninhabitable, so people evolved to have wings and built floating islands in the sky. Of course, then humans became complacent and their wings became useless decorations. I think the islands were at war though and they were sinking each other. I don't even know. lol.

sounds interesting but thankfully different enough that we won't fall too close to it.

... Can my character have wings? Or are we all human types?

I suppose you could but they wouldn't be something natural to you. like you wouldn't have been born with them. You could however be using some sort of magical device to have them (if your a noble) or even a spell to give you temporary wings (if your royal).
Few commoners have access to magic. Humans in the general sense aren't infused with magic naturally. They can harness magic from the world by using sources.
Ophanim seeds/petals are magic sources, one of the few. Petals have very little magic in them but commoners can purchase petal pendants and use minor magics. Nobles have access to products made by large numbers of petals and occasionally if acquired through proper royal channels seed products (products such as magic swords and wands and such that have specific attributes). Royals are the only ones legally allowed to own the seeds themselves and tend eat them throughout their lives as a dietary staple, which is why they can use spell like magic. Though they still generally acquire a specific type of magic from the consumption.
Ophanim Harvesters, rare as they may be, though Daphne isn't the only one, are the only people capable of releasing a seed's true potential. Daphne can't because she doesn't know she can. AND it's technically illegal for the Harvesters to harness any of their harvest. Period.

I have to think about whether Zachary would have magic. He is the Prince, after all, even if he's the spare. Zachary isn't the magic type, but I could see him having a sword spelled against breaking and maybe, if he's told to eat Ophanim seeds, growing an ability to never tire on the field as long as he has his magic weapon. Like...they're bound together.
His brother is far more magical. He can manipulate energy.

Wait...what? The Goddess who is currently asleep?
That would make most of the campfire pretty easy for you...

I never intended anyone to host the Goddess.
I'm not sure how you would do it and actually be part of the general story.
Aladriel is a Valkyrie type goddess with six wings and is often referred to as the Blood-Stained Angel. Because once upon a time she would pretty much plow through an active battlefield and take her pick of souls leaving noting but an ocean of blood behind her. Most of humanity has forgotten this of course as the current gospel is how wonderful she is and how she saved mankind. Being a chevalier of the Goddess is something heroes and children dream of becoming though no one has become one in all the years she's slept.
Are you sure you want to take on a role so defined already, a role that won't have any of the rest of us interacting with on a regular basis until MUCH further in?

I once played the bad guy in a campfire all on my own. I was supposed to die at the end since everyone else was playing the good guy. xD I can do it. But if you don't want someone to do this then I won't.

Aladriel is her name. She rules the light of the white dwarf star that revolves around the planet's red giant sun.
She has an army of immortal souls though most are sleeping in various parts of the floating lands as conduits for her power. Very few but there are a couple that roam the world. above, and below...

Is becoming a Chavalier like...torture, or something? I could see Zachary bargaining his soul to her for the safety of his people. And, if we ever did the sequel, that would mean Zachary could be worshiped almost as a god. We could call him the Consort, or something.
If it's not particularly torturous, the sacrifice doesn't mean as much, but I could still see Zachary attempting to bargain with the goddess...

well for one thing if you become chevalier you are eternally bound to the goddess, she isn't a purely good goddess and has committed genocide a few times in history, forcing her chevaliers to commit whatever evils she wishes. Of course she's also not a completely evil goddess and will also send her chevaliers on great quests.
The biggest issue is that if you become chevalier you do not journey to the same place other people do, so you'd never see your friends and family again unless they were also reaped by the goddess.

Oh and Mynt.
Aladriel wasn't part of the first attempt at this story, she came for a minor attempt at a different story that I used Daphne in as well.
Daphne is the mortal incarnation of the Goddess. Her bloodline, the Ophanim Harvesters are a line of incarnates, a way for the Goddess' consciousness to keep tabs on the world and for the most part keep her from going too crazy with boredom and sleep.
They are not the same person and yet they are heavily connected.
