That was SO RACIST. No, not really.
Brazilians run the gamut, though. I mean, their African-Brazilian community are descendents of slaves just as much as African-Americans are. And it's not like Rio isn't an international city with communities from around the world...
I just don't want to have SO MANY different people all in different places that we lose track of all our threads. No one else is coming to Blarney/at Blarney. Rio contributes to the story, as does Shlomi. Matt's many characters contribute somehow, though I really dunno how.
The only part of the world we don't have represented as of now...(or by my addition) are Africa and Asia. OK, and Australia, but...they melted as far as I'm concerned. They went back to being a prison.

Asia is half represented lol. As for Africa my original idea was to make the black guy South African cause you mentioned the Rio thing, but either way will work really.

We haven't written in Asia, though. But Asia and America are BIG TIME Omega, so...yeah. We'll get Omega from Mynt's character, who has worked undercover for them for years, and from Shlomi, and from your stuff with...the hacker girl person you wrote for and whose name I forgot.
We're getting civilians from you and Matt. But we need more civilians, I think. More people dying, food becoming scarce, people dividing along the lines of "I need food, not freedom" and "We need to stick it out for freedom". More violence in the streets, etc. Gradually, I mean...throughout this story and whatnot. Especially as that's the big theme of this campfire: food or freedom.

Wait, that's our theme? Food or freedom? Hmmm...dunno how to work that in for Glenn just yet. Oh, and her name is Teira.

OH, okies.
That's a really simplified version. Basically, it comes down to whether or not being 'free' is worth it. Places like America and Japan, who support Omega, are prosperous and well-fed and advanced. And the rest of the Republic does fine, as well. Omega isn't a huge presence, etc etc. What makes Earth different is that Omega still considers it a threat. So this high falutin' idea like 'freedom' is getting in the way of people living stable lives.
What the rebels say is that living under Deklahn has not meant happy lives for people. America and Japan are well fed, etc because everyone lives in fear. Fear that they will misstep and be labeled a rebel and, thus, lose all those rights they enjoy. They believe that these rights shouldn't come at a price, or as part of deal in which freedom is the cost. So food, shelter, stability, safety, etc...what's the point if you live your life in the shadow of tyranny?
Very similar to the fight between Abner and Lyn, in fact. And Mia is going to go through the same huge choice as Mykel.

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.
I get it now.
You and your blessed summaries.

*nods*
We are also going to play with the idea that rebels don't mean good and Omega doesn't mean bad.

So who are our bad rebels? The Russions? Or just the Raven?

That's up to Matt. But yeah, the in-fighting and the politicizing of the rebellion are part of what make the Rebels not the Jedi.

But.. but we shape up? Yes?

Well, our characters ARE the good guys. But I'm trying to avoid the black and white good guys vs bad guys thing that these stories often get.

More gray area then? So then we have give the Omega characters more human characteristics and motivations? Or at least ones that can be related too?

Yeah.
It's what I'm trying to do with Cyril, for example, who thinks that Omega created an enemy of Earth by assuming they were an enemy following the first rebellion. She believes Deklahn CREATED this rebellion and these rebels by being cruel and defensive. She is a good person. But she also is Omega.

Haven't totally decided on what to do with Teira yet. Hey Quaddy, tell me what to think.

Well, Teira can be "nice" Omega. She feels bad about hurting Tada, right? Maybe she decides not to fuck with him some more and actually lets him be kinda free?
Ether Acton is going to be a douche. He's going to kill Cyril and Shlomi at the end of the campfire and alert Omega to the fact that the Rebels will be attacking Prime.

Are Omega human peoples? Or alien types? *completely clueless and ashamed.*

Yeah I thought something like that, but I dunno. Seems too simple. Can she be at Prime?

OK, HISTORY OF THE REPUBLIC!
Humans went out among into the Milky Way Galaxy, either conquering or intermingling with the alien populations to be found. Essentially, all humans are Captain Kirk and fuck the prime directive. So human DNA is found in pretty much EVERY species in the Milky Way. But Omega is made up of a variety of different species, all of which have some human DNA in them. If you read my last addition, you'll see that Cyril and Ether are different species.
And, Zeph...if anything, have her be at the OTHER main Omega Station--the one in Tokyo.

Oh okay. I just had a scene of him meeting her in an invasion or something. It doesn't have to happen. Just thought it'd be interesting.

I dunno if I like EVERY character meeting each other. In fact, that is terribly impractical.

I think my character is very desperate not to be dead, so she wants to be where that it less likely to happen.
Okay, I think I get it.

Your character escaped America and ran to...Canadia? Or Mexico, was it? 'Cause she gets to Rio eventually.

Canadia we said. But I don't know how she gets to Rio from there.
