So what are the things that you fasten onto clothing or bags using safety pins? They're not badges to you? Or buttons?

Oh, right yeah those are buttons too. They're also handed out during election seasons and such with candidates names and slogans on them.

Yeah, I call those pins. Badges are for policemen, buttons are for pressing, pins are for pinning...

I call em both, but I call fizzy drinks soda. Not pop, not coke (unless it is coke), and not soda water.
I don't drink much of it though.

I call coke coke, but the rest of it is soda to me as well. People who call it pop are weird.

We should make a campfire where intelligent people go to war with idiots and most of the intelligent peeps flee the planet. Those who stay and fight must use their wit and intellect to outsmart their enemies and take over again. We could involve the Illiminati. NO. We could BE the illuminati, but it'd be a sympathetic story of their takeover. After all, if they didn't enslave humanity how else would it survive? Without their superior guidance the foolish cattle called 'the masses' would expand and devour itself killing it's own race with it's attempt at advancement. Then we'd have to kill off the people who tried to shed light on the truth because if it was discovered that there really were people pulling the strings there would be mass panic, and rioting. The stupid people would find them and kill them, and the world would be doomed. For that reason, we would have to weave and structure the perceived system as a grand facade. A colossal fairy tale. A beautiful lie.
That actually went quite a bit further than I originally intended.

You mean the United States of America as it was originally pictured by the Founders?
OK, so maybe it wasn't THAT far, but our Founders really didn't trust the masses.

Oh no, not at all. I agree with them. It amuses me, however, how much "elitist" is a bad word in America...and our Founders were a bunch of intellectual elites.

Because generally the people who refer to themselves as elitists are quite pretentious. It's the whole thing with the masses again though really. Generally, most, almost all of, ect. Most elitists are pretentious so even if the ratio is rather close it doesn't seem that way. Stupids are often quite a bit louder than the rest.

Problem is, elitism is far more prevalent than anyone things. 25% of this country goes to university (far more go to trade schools), meaning that a full quarter of this population is a member of an elite.

Fizzy drinks - we tend to just call them by name here. Sprite, Coke, Fanta etc. You might ask if someone wants a soft drink and then say 'fizzy or flat' but yeah...
Also... intelligent people fighting idiots... didn't we try this already somewhere?
