Dude, you take those seeds, Zachary will be after you. Crime is crime, even if it's for the people.

Oh well I didn't really wanna be like that. Not fighting the harvesters and stuff, more like making deals with them and stuff. Oh well, that doesn't work with me. I'll think of something else.
Maybe someone who's studying them and trying to find other uses and better growing methods for them. A scientist (alchemist?) or sorts maybe. I'm not really sure what sort of roles would fit well here.

Daphne might make a deal with someone who was scholarly rather than a black market dude. of course you could merge the two a bit and have your alchemist selling a few here and there to fund his research. But the peasantry aren't super educated so you best have a good back story.

Would there be any reason a farmer/harvester would lose their ability to grow the Ophanim?

No, it's in their blood. of course the amount able get less and less with each generation and the family lines that were able have dwindled extremely since the Ishtar rose and (spoiler) the chevaliers that were left in the world had to live out a lifetime before they could return to the Goddess' side. Their offspring is the harvester line.
The Goddess never intended the people to be able to grow and harvest Ophanim (doing so has quickened the seeping out of magic) She's both angered by the audacity of humans and fully prepared to take advantage of the situation.

Hmmm, okay maybe my character has the ability to harvest it but channels that ability more into synthesizing it into other things (or at least attempting to) or drawing our more power from one seed or petal than it'd normal put out. Perhaps he's trying to make like a super potent version of the Ophanim (though I imagine this is dangerous) that doesn't need to be harvested to give off the magical energy?
Sorry I'm pelting you with all the what ifs. I don't wanna through a wrench in your beautiful mythos.

Would it fit within the mythos and the plot to create an oracle that was kept by a specific noble, to be used as a bit of a tool to gain political advantage?

Daphne herself is able to conjure power from the petals and seeds that no non-harvester could.

Well...is everyone from Helios? Because Zachary's family has pretty tight control over Helios. Not in a tyrannical sense, but in a "well loved, so no one is going to try and even come close to their power level" sort of way.

what would you think of the oracle working for Constantine? a tool for the good of the people?
I have a basic structure for the character and all that in mind but I am willing to adapt to whatever works best. I'm more interested in making her relevant and well rounded than I am having her fill a specific role.

Actually, that might work. Constantine is a big proponent of magic and he is also a big proponent of controlling every situation. Having the ability to know the future makes things less terrifying for him. I do have to say, though, that if she tells him magic is failing, Constantine will turn against her. At that point, however, she could find Zachary and join him...if she wants.

That sounds great. =) Would you mind emailing me a basic idea of constantine's character? I want to make sure I stay true to his character as well =)

Of course, hun. I can actually post it here so everyone has an idea of how to write for him.
Constantine Alixandr Anton Helios (yeah, kinda Russian, I know) is King Anatoli's eldest son with the late Queen Deirdre (she died perhaps ten years ago in childbirth). He is perhaps 5'10-5'11 and stocky, with dark hair and dark eyes, and pale skin. He looks like their mother, with softer features that are handsome enough, but not quite as handsome as Zachary. Constantine is a scholar and an adept administrator, and he is quite easily the smartest person in all of Helios--not just in knowledge, but in his ability to learn and attain information. Disciplined, quiet, studious...he isn't necessarily well-liked, but he is not disliked at all. He tends to fade into the shadows because he is just so damned competent. His Ophanim-related power is energy manipulation (kind of like Emperor Palpatine). The face of competent discipline is the face that everyone--EVERYONE--sees. No one would guess at the other half of his personality--not even his wife, brother, or father.
Things that haven't come up yet are a fear of chaos and a need for control. He is a man who puts up walls when he is afraid, and he is not a man who is capable of reading a situation and changing his plans. Intransigent, almost, if he believes what he is doing is right. Obsessed with fairness to an unhealthy level. Unwilling to accept change and without much imagination. When Zachary begins insisting that magic is failing and the Ishtar are falling, Constantine will effectively go insane (he will likely be king by this point as Anatoli will die soon) and insist that nothing is wrong, placing himself in Zachary's path at every juncture. I haven't made up my mind if he will die or if Zachary will insist on saving him.
His wife is named Miriam and she is from a neighboring Ishtar. Haven't decided which one.

Sounds great. Thank you =) Would it be alright with you if I played with his relationship with the oracle a bit? Not to the point of romantic involvement at all (I assume being the loyal man he is an affair would not be something he would have any part in) but in the way of a sort of comforting female presence in his life? Resonable? unreasonable? =) Sorry I am just full of questions.

Yeah, no romance. Constantine would never even contemplate cheating on Miriam. It would be unfair to her, and wrong. As well as blasphemous.
He is 31. If she is older than he is, I could see her being a sort of mother figure. If not...if she is in her upper twenties (Zachary's age or a little older), she could replace their eldest sister, just a couple years younger than Constantine. They were very close and I could imagine that her marriage would have stolen from him his confidante.

Hmm, okay I have a bit of an idea. This might be another last minute one to be honest where I figure out what I want to do once everyone else has their adds and I read them and get some inspiration.

I hope the addition was okay. Let me know if there is anything character wise you would like me to adjust for Constantine in the future, Quaddy. I was hoping to portray him as a man with the best of intensions for her and the kingdom, but show his need for a controlled environment. I hope it did his character Justice =)
