Matticakes, darling, how much more time do you think you need on this? I don't want everyone to lose interest because we let this thing peter out...
Also, Kat has joined us in this as Charlie, the Scottish explosives expert. She replaced Aiken, who disappeared...again.

I know. And then you started adding and I was like, "hey! I won't skip yet!" and then you waited to do In Service last. So I kind of reset the clock.

Is there anything else I should know about Charlie before I start roughing out a draft for my first addition? Anything specific you would like me to include?

Obviously I wont get too ahead of myself, but I like to kinda let the characters hang out in my brain for a bit, seeing if anything about them strikes me to go one way or another.

He's Scottish. Matt can help you with that if he's not too overwhelmed, but he generally likes talking about Scotland, so...that should be a problem.
He was Izzy's mentor when she first joined the organization, before she was allowed to become a Street Mech. She was an Archivist, which kept her in the labs much more. Whether Charlie's feelings for her are brotherly (they're too similar in age for them to be fatherly) or more...romantic, is up to you. Unrequited love seems to be a theme in this story, apparently.
Um...he's a little like Bill Nye the Science Guy sometimes. At least he was in my head. Really goofy and absolutely fascinated by things that other people can sometimes find odd. He loves to make things explode, for example, and test his stuff on people. His favorite targets are Iz and Jonny, but he'll go to any of the other people in this campfire if he needs to.
I see him with a shock of red curls, but that's totally up to you. Most of these characters look different than they are in my head, so I don't particularly care.

Connor is totally up for it, Mynt. Beast has said so.
And...see? Matt is always willing to help with Scottish-y things.
Oh, he doesn't wear kilts or eat haggis.

Charlie doesn't eat Haggis?!?! FAILURE OF A SCOTSMAN. The kilt is forgivable - they can be worn on occasions but otherwise not outside the realm. HAGGIS THOUGH!? Sacrilege!

Awesome. I can relate to the easily excitable and completely fascinated mindset =). Would it be too far of a departure to lean him a bit toward understated, dry humor?
I was kinda thinking about going with a Gerard butler in timeline sort of look, but a bit less sultry, lol. still the curls, but dark. =)
What do you think?

I love that you can't remember his name! Totally love.
That's why he's in English, Matt. He got kicked out for not liking haggis.

Sorry, typo. Don't hurt me.
And no...no it is not. *shudder* Actually, we're not even allowed to get the real thing here because several of the ingredients in traditional haggis are not allowed here...

ooo thanks for the link. I was just looking up some ways of integrating the accent without making it difficult to read.
I am willing to have him wear a kilt while eating haggis. =) A steampunk kilt would be more epic than the world could handle I think.

Aye tis the wee things that make all the difference to a Scots dialect. (Also when you get good at it you notice lots of funny puns in Harry Potter).

Lol poor Mynt. What's got you such a girl boner for Abe? The accent? It's the accent isn't it?

Anyway, I dunno if I see Gerard Butler. He's another character (not one of my own) in my head, so it's hard for me to see it. And dry humor is fine, as well.
I've seen a Steampunk kilt. It's pretty awesome.
