OMG, apparently scientists are using 3D printers to make food.
We should totally use this in Rebel.

The accent? Yeah, kinda. Matt's reaction was kinda funny. I imagine it's like someone typing a Southern accent, but ends up typing half the words like the character's from Minnesota, or something.

It's like no accent I ever heard on the Welsh coast but hey, accents are hard. It's why In Service is so ruddy impossible to write/read. I never have any ideas for that one... =(

Why does everyone make In Service about the bloody accents?! THERE'S A FUCKING STORY THERE, PEOPLE!
(Sorry. It's just that literally every. single. person. who's been up has bitched at my about the accents, and it's getting really old.)

I was talking about me doing accents in general. I wasn't even thinking about In Service. You're not the only one who's told me my accent writing sucks. Even the ones I can imitate.

That was more with regard to Matt's, darling. Though you did complain about the accents in In Service, too. Everyone has. To a man. Literally...every single person's first comment to me about In Service has been the accents. No one has to do the accents; throwing in a few of the phrases I sent you is plenty.

Yeah, I meant I hadn't commented on it recently. I know I've mentioned them before. Quite a while back though.

I have no idea what the characters are saying in In Service, Quaddy. So, yeah, I'm gonna complain.

Also on Accents and In Service. I'm English - I can do the accents, I can even speak them if you really wanted me to. But somehow I've never quite clocked how In Service works, where it's going, what the themes are etc. And part of the reason has been the variety of accents as every person tries to transcribe a cockney accent as it is in their own head. It's maybe not the main reason but it's one of them. I think this time round I get Jonny more - I actually kind of like him this time round. I felt very little for him last time but I tend to end up struggling the first few rounds when the character is half formed before I get there anyway (so this time was kind of cheating because I'd already written for him a while before) and that's why I like them because they're a different kind of challenge if you know what I mean???
But then with Fall, I just don't seem to be feeling any vibes (as lame as it sounds)... part of me thinks it's because we've got LOADS of high fantasy type stories with the same sort of plots and the same sorts of characters going at the same time. Fall, Rouicia, Mortality, Anti Hero, Terracotta... And they're all different, all good, all the premises of good stories, but I guess somehow Fall drew the short straw and became a block for me rather than a trigger...
Which does make me sad because I really enjoyed fleshing out my wee druid. haha.

I never saw Spy Kids. It came out when I was a little old for that shit.
Everything they say is on one of the lists I sent, and the accents just need some sounding out. Reading's not meant to be easy, you know.

In Service is a sort of...crime thriller-meets-buddy cop story. All about the group dynamics and relationships and identities. There's also a sort of 'what makes someone human' storyline, especially with Jonny and the twins, and class consciousness and whatnot. Mostly, though, crime thriller-meets-buddy cop story.
Also, my last post was meant to be more joking than condescending. Damn the internet.

I stand by it. I tend to skip dialogue in stories if the author attempts utilizing some kind of dialect/accent.

So...my addition is at 11.5k right now and I still have two full sections to write and the end of the one I'm writing now. And anything I might have to add because of Ascetic's addition.
Seriously...five of these additions and I win NaNo!

OK, Ascetic is having a lot of personal problems in life right now. If I don't hear from him in another week or so, I'm going to go ahead and skip him this round. Just to let everyone know.
