It's dark by 6 here, so not much better. I admit, Florida winters are the greatest thing on earth. A few beach days, a few sweater days, the best time to go to Disney (because no one else goes, except around Christmas), and bright blue skies.

Sounds almost Alaskan.

Hey everyone! I'm somewhat interested in Drawing the characters, perhaps portraits, give me links to refs of people you think they look like so I can use those refs and the descriptions in the CF to make good portraits.

Bloody hell, real people as parts of fictional character... so tricky! I've been scrambling for images that sort of go with how I see Kenaz... So I've got this one: benmillerphoto.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/xavier-tournaud-male-model-500x750.jpg for the sort of facial structure as a man. I admittedly found it off Ben Miller but it's hard to find photos of a similar looking thing. The hair is about like that and the stubbling, unkempt thing too, slightly curlier for the hair actually (more Simon Baker curls I guess... god me and Simon Baker...) And then it's this sort of colour: As a girl - Kenaz is more of an Amy Pond (http://i3.mirror.co.uk/incoming/article1343355.ece/ALTERNATES/s615/Karen+Gillan+ ) - longer, redder hair, albeit with a pointier bone structure. Mix her with Miss Havisham a la Bonamcarter (https://encrypted-tbn3.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQ7cADGxdJPWtc9gVL9EXXqtaEDXAGTbbbQ7lxYAB9dD_JS_luOKA). Not sure if the girl version will feature much though. But then you have to account for the dragon eyes... the scales of his spine and shoulders. I tend to think of eyes as deeper than your average human shape - you know more third eyelid like a cat type of eye. With the slit pupil. And then the colours. Ah. if you wanted to draw him you'd have a tricky time... I'm finding it hard to think of how to convey it in a mix of already there pictures.

Slaine69 is definitely not me. I can't draw at all. But he draws my favorite fan art of the Malazan Book of the Fallen and Rei was heavily influenced (appearance-wise, at least, and with concept) by a character named Apsalar, who gets possessed by the God of Assassins and then an assassin herself when he leaves her body.

I don't usually use real people as references for my characters. @_@ I'll try and find something.

Good luck, Mynt. It took me hours to find pictures that worked. And even then, those aren't perfect. The girl I ended up choosing is a lot softer looking, a lot prettier. Rei is a little sharper, a little more angular. With a deadlier look. Especially in her eyes. She definitely has a Kate Beckinsale-in-Underworld vibe.

Well, I imagined Sera with a fairly thin, ballet dancer like body. Flexible and whatever. Face wise, psh, I have no idea.

I think i'll stick with the guy version and wing it wiuth your ref and bio. we'll see if the result is acceptable, these portraits will be of a particular style, we'll see how it goes.

Well it's obvious that i won't be able to truly capture what each of you envision, but don't you think it'd be fun to see what I see when I read your posts and see the closes living person you can find to your character? lol

I'm not exactly waving a pitchfork over here. Artistic license, I always say...
But you'd better get it right.

I'm pretty protective of my characters so I try to avoid having people draw them, but on the other hand if someone is offering to do s o I won't say no. xD That doesn't mean I can help you at all. I can give you some references on his facial structure but not what his face looks like. lol.

One wonders how many secret sketches he has...
Do you have a cache somewhere of everyone's beloved character, stealth sketcher?!?!?! Are you hiding them from us? HUNH?!
(OK, I'm going insane. I need NaNo to come so I can channel it. I am so not prepared for this...I should probably go look at my outline a few more times to figure out where I'm going with it.)
