Yes, we know. She mentioned she felt no connection to the character and like she was holding up the campfire.

Seems silly since it's not like the campfire has gone ANYWHERE yet. CFs evolve. and change as they go.

I think she was worried about conforming to our idea. And she said she didn't really understand the plot we had hashed out, and felt tied to something instead of able to control her own character. I think...when we were trying to figure out a way for everyone to really have their moment, we might have made her feel like we were deciding things for her.

It's too bad she felt that way. because it wasn't the case.

But sometimes the character-writer bond doesn't mete out the way you expect and it makes it tricky so at least she's brave enough to admit it and stuff. There are definitely moments like that everywhere...

True enough. Let's move on.

So....Toire officially gets to take over the role of intermediary, right? Right.
Exactly.

I had a question about this campfire, but I forgot what it was. I believe it had something to do with everyone coming together. If I remember correctly not everyone was fighting for the same cause.

If you go back a couple of pages, we have the whole campfire planned out. You might have to start at the beginning, but it's definitely there. Just take out Sera and replace it with Toire and that's the plan.

Ah, well, since it's not that many pages I can see myself doing that soon.

Yeah, and it's definitely towards the beginning. Only a few pages in. Most of this thread is us being random.

Lol, random is always fun. There was a lot of randomness. I wonder what all that power will do to Shade though, if I'm understanding everything correctly.

Shade won't get more powerful. He's not even weakened in terms of power. He is just as powerful as ever but if you like, think of it as a weakness in stamina. He cannot do as much and because of the interference he is unable to reach those that need reaching.
Out of all the gods who've ever encountered. Shade is one of the least self serving.

Ah, I thought that because of the pocket realm he was lacking in power, but once it was broken he would be overloaded with power, and possibly become corrupted in a sense.

Yes and no to being loaded with power. That surge of energy released from the pocket will aid him in his rebirth. He's gotten old and needs to die again but cannot due to there being people kept from death. Or something like that. We're still keeping things loose so they can evolve on their own in the CF.

Ahem. Shade.
The pocket realm is stealing power from Death and tilting the balance in favor of Life, thus bringing things into disorder and humility. He is not without any of his abilities, but he is lacking in stamina and part of his being is being held by others (his Priesthood, who is using the power of Death to maintain their own authority). Because of this imbalance, he is not able to stop this misuse of power, either. This is why he has had Rei killing for him; the death helps restore him and his realm for a brief period of time, and allows him to act in the way he needs to. In destroying the pocket realm and freeing those souls to die, the balance between Life and Death will be restored, thus restoring Shade to what he should be. He will then be allowed to die and be reborn, thus consolidating everything and restoring the balance permanently.
In essence, that power BELONGS to Shade and is being kept from him. So when it is released, he is just getting back what is rightfully his. Shade is a good guy. A really good guy, actually. No matter what else changes in this story, this will not change. Shade is a good guy and Rei is his reward, so to speak.

No problem Quaddy, lol. I never had any intention of having Shade corrupt. but the circumstances of the power flow situation will evolve as we go.

Which is pretty much what builds a story and drives people to read on. Tension is awesome. And I'll be working in that framework too, considering my character's hopeful death at the near-end.
