OK, so Aoife is actually a couple years older than Byron, but I get the feeling that Byron is the more serious one. The quieter, more analytic one prone to thinking things through as well as laying low/acting in more subtle means.
I mean, not that Aoife doesn't think things through or know how to keep her head in situations; she's acting as a double agent, after all. But her situation is very dangerous and very precarious, and it requires her to do some very cruel/untoward things.
So yeah, basically they both want the same thing, but they go about in different ways. Byron uses his gifts to get rid of Hunters from behind the scenes and Aoife goes undercover as a Hunter and trades on her Father's reputation to save as many Arcane as she can. So they're quite close, but their stubborn need to act in the way best suited to their conscience has a tendency to get in the way.
So...if Aoife were to call about the package she sent, Byron would be less-than-thrilled, but this is mostly covering up for the fact that he's worried Aoife will do something to get herself killed.

That's usual for us haha - it's like a gay Sebastian but a Sebastian with a social conscience and awareness of what that society wants of him... actually not much like Sebastian... but he's still kind of sarcastic and views the world through a very skeptical lens like him too.
So yeh, he's more analytic, more Slytherin than Gryffindor I guess. And he's also probably a tad more naive in someways because he doesn't realise the repercussions of misusing his magick/that he's not developing his affinities properly because of it.
Plus I reckon that on the phone he'd start off being really frustrated with her because he's worried about the wolves being around town but he'd eventually turn it into more of a 'don't you realise that if hunters found them, or me, they might connect them back to you, just because of the place/links with our family' etc.
Does that make sense?

Yeah. It's like when parents yell at you for something stupid and it takes a minute for you to realize that they're yelling because you scared the crap out of them. This, of course, being an event that happened to me many times in my youth.
I don't necessarily see Byron being as irresponsible as Seb. Of course, we've taken Seb down an...interesting road. We'll have to fix that eventually.

Seb is a crazy crazy child that's had a shit tonne of responsibility just thrust upon him. He's never really bothered to grow up. Byron has - he was probably the kid that was too old for his own skin when he was younger. But at the same time, they're both kind of too-smart-for-their-own-good and such.
I miss Seb. Fuck work. I miss writing. Fullstop.

I'm working on my addition for this. I appreciate your patience. My school load has gotten kind of killer as of late. Luckily the semester is almost over...

It's fine. The add is all done so just lemme know what's up when it's up and such. Haven't gotten on writing yet cause it doesn't always let me on at work but I'll check in periodically to see if my (re)invite is there and whatnot.

An update for interested parties- Iron in the air and in human blood DO NOT harm fae. It is too diluted to be harmful. In extremely RARE instances witches can achieve immortality. The why and how are unclear, but it can happen. Any questions (other than when is are we going to move)?

Anything new about the wolves, or any other aspects to the storyline?

Not as of yet, on the wolf front. But there are some changes being considered.
I haven't got much else for the storyline except that -eventually- word needs to get out that New Orleans is an arcane safe haven. Hunter characters should congregate in Baton Rouge (some 80 miles away from New Orleans) and the non-hunters should seek safety in New Orleans.

Poor Aoife is seriously going to have to choose.
Hey...this immortality thing, does that mean the Big Bad (Aoife's dad) gets to be immortal?

Only if you plan on him not dying ever.

I think he'd be more interesting as a villain if he wasn't immortal. Like... I don't think immortality has to do with power. So that's not a given. Plus, if he's not, maybe that's what he's searching for in the end. Maybe his whole quest is really looking for a way to defeat death. If that's not too Voldemort like.

I agree. Her dad is not the main villain after all, just like a mini boss. So even if he is immortal, he'd have to go away at some point and be a Buddhist in the mountains or something once he gets his face smashed.

We're talking immortal as in can't be killed, or immortal as in Tolkien elves are immortal? Because everything can be killed, in the end.
Who is the main villain? I don't think you ever told me.

In my mind, before he got adopted as the Mini Boss, Aoife's dad (when he just affected Aoife) was extending his life via blood magick. So, while not immortal, he is much older than he appears.

Immortal as in not being killed, life eternal, pretty much. That's why it's rare.

Think of it this way Q. A witch reaching immortality is a little like discovering eudaimonia. It's a completion of sorts.
But hmmm with the blood magick - it was a ritual of sorts wasn't it, where he was abusing other witches by taking their blood/power to become stronger. So I don't know if that would make him live longer PER SE but maybe he wouldn't feel the effects of age quite so much because injury/sickness/weakness - he's learnt to manipulate the rituals to make those he captures feel them before him???
Only I don't think magick extends life much more than a few decades - like a witch has a longer lifespan than most in that they can live to like 140 or something but it's just like they age slower in adulthood. When they're 60, they look/feel like an old 45 - that sort of thing.

Okay, so immortal witches can die, BUT no one knows how to kill one or if it's ever been done. I also believe modern arcane/witches believe it's a myth or a figurative immortality. Does this work?
