I... honestly don't do that much research on cities because the story isn't about the city, it's about the characters. The city doesn't even bother me that much, it's just so everyone can say they're in the same place.

I didn't do a damn bit of research for Sybeline. I just based it on where I live.

Phoenix is too boring to be a setting for a story.

Yeah and that girl from Twilight is from Phoenix. I remember this because my favourite mythological creature is a phoenix and it mightily bothered me that she came from a town named after such magnificent bird.
I find city demographics pretty interesting - certainly worth thinking about anyway - because of the way that cities shape mental states. So coming from Atlanta might make the humans more antagonistic towards non humans because of their latent racism.

Exactly. That's what I was aiming for. Like...Miami or New York or Seattle...I'm not sure that anti-Arcane feeling would be so very common.

The fact that Atlanta holds such extremes of wealth and culture would definitely work in the story's favour...
Miami might be more accepting because it's more liberal generally... and it has a lot more cultures present.
It might be worth suggesting that cities like New Orleans are very open and accepting because of their history? After all, they're pretty witchy anyway.
ps. I love that my room smells like old books because of my typewriter.

If there had been a way...
We can always hope for a brush fire to take out the author. She only lives like an hour or so from where I live...

Can we set a brush fire?

Sure. Lots of accidents happen in the desert. It gets so hot and dry... never know what might happen.

We threatened to kill Stephanie Meyer. Don't worry, the FBI is only there to lend you the weapons. And offer to help.

Well, as long as it's still wet, try peroxide first. Then borax seems to work well.
