Aladriel is an independent being. And the rumors of her saving the human race are more of a folktale than truth. She was tricked by the God King, Asbanun Niman. He tethered himself to her and stole a great portion of her power which resulted in her descent.
Originally the God King, Asbanun Niman, had intended to use the power of Aladriel to subdue the world. A good intention since the world was covered in chaos and hate and on the brink of annihilation.
But when he stole Aladriel's power the goddess literally fell from her realm in the white star. She fell to earth and when she impacted great shards of the world were flung up into the sky infused with what remained of her natural power.
But even this gargantuan event on the world didn't change the tone. Instead it hastened the hate and greed for power in the world. as all countries reached out to steal as much of her body as they could. And the dark clouds began to roll across the sky.
The God King, Asbanun Niman took the people of his lands and what he could gather of Aladriel's body and using the power he stole from the Goddess, pulled them all into the sky to safety on the floating lands high above.
The God King is both a hero and a villain because he is the cause of the safe haven as well as the end of the world below.
Why?
Because the dark cloud is sentient it is a demon, a devil. It is What was stolen from Aladriel, Fed upon the vices of mankind. It fed so quickly that it corrupted; it sacked the world and killed most left below.
So Aladriel herself is both Goddess and Devil. Savior and condemner. MWAHAHAHA
Aladriel doesn't know, she is too weak to know. She just knows that she is missing so much of herself. The God king, immortal with her power, still holds a piece.
The Cloud of Hate holds another.

I imagine so. Starting with artifacts in certain temples around the floating lands. /pieces of her bodies in the form of crystals/ and yes retrieving the pieces of her in ophanim breeders

oh and those artifacts help keep the lands afloat so the fewer artifacts left in the temples the faster the lands will fall.

Well, Zachary certainly isn't going to allow Daphne to die, so unless there's a way to return the Goddess to herself without killing its host, Aladriel...might not be getting what she wants.
You know, for a character he hasn't met yet, Zachary is very protective over Daphne. I think that's why I like him.

Are we talking about the previous incarnation of this campfire or something I don't know about yet?

yeah I was lol.
BTW I'd like to implement this idea from the previous incarnation:
"They'd only ever met once before. When she was a child, when she was six and her parents had visited the castle. When she had gotten lost in the many many halls and corridors and began to cry. A nice boy, barely fifteen, found her, and calmed her down. They spent all day together. He pushed her on the swings in the gardens. She showed him how to help cure the queen's favorite rose bush which had began to wilt. She had him bringing water and she guided his hands as they watered the roots slowly and caressed the leaves. She made him talk to the roses. Telling him they like to be acknowledge, even if they have trouble responding. By the time the suns touched the horizon the roses were bright and cheerful. She remembered laughing with him when her parents finally found her. It was then that she found out who he was. Prince Zachary. She'd been so surprised she had forgotten to say goodbye to him that day. Surely he didn't remember that day..."

No problem. It's definitely something Zachary would have done. He's a really good guy despite his tendency to answer slights to his honor (and his family's honor) with violence.

So I was thinking about constantine being the villan....would it work if the oracle saw him going a little nuts in her vision, and told him (or Zachary if that would be better) about it in hopes it would be prevented? Then constantine could sort of over-correct and thus become a sort of self fulfilling prophesy?
Just a thought...

Hmn.... Save humanity at the risk of destroying the world... Save the world at the risk of destroying humanity....
I'm not sure what background notes there are to Constantine being the villain, but presumably he'll be standing in the way of anyone retrieving relics, and ergo an 'evil' defender of humanity?
Which makes the 'good' guys the ones trying to restore Aladriel and crash the Ishtar?
Or have I got it backward?

I'm sure all the characters are going to have a crisis of sides to choose.
We know that in the beginning at least Prince Zachary will be trying to save the people and the Ishtar from falling, and Constantine won't believe that magic is leaving.
Where things go from their We'll have to wait and see.
This story is on it's third incarnation. It's gotten better and more in depth with each run too. (niether of the first two went to far in before the authors got too much on their plates to continue working on it at the time)
In the VERY first incarnation BQ (Before Quaddy) Daphne and another female character that had come from the world below the clouds basically became what in this incarnation are known as Aladriel's Chevaliers, and were racing against the other characters to steal the artifacts and return the power to the goddess.
---
Just so you know. The Floating Lands WILL fall in the end, and many people will die. But Humanity will continue.

I will use those words exactly! "She saw him, dressed in armor, eyes piercing. "He's coming to kill people and steal things!" She exclaimed."
In all seriousness though I like that idea to have her see Vespasian =) Should she know he's a chevalier?

She might. Hey, beast, maybe he can sense her seeing him? Not really magic, just an awareness and gives him a pit stop. Another person to add to his hit list. ;D

No, I'm sure she gets away. Right now, he's pretty much a drone with one mission- to restore the Goddess. So anything that gets in the way of that he'd have no qualms cutting down. After she gets away he'll probably be like "oh she's no threat." Or something. But if she shows up again, he'd probably try to off her just to make his life easier.
