Don't be sad. It's possible, it's just difficult. Remember, you've been around for a couple hundred years or so and have had more time than most to research so you'd likely be far better and more accomplished than most. Since magic is so scarce and difficult to make revolutionary discoveries in your craft would be rare and unique.
In short, you can still be a mage (I'm assuming you said mage because you're thinking of arcane magic instead of natural). To put it in perspective though, casting a fireball (A sphere of pure flame that explodes engulfing the encompassing area in fire) would be immensely destructive and equally as difficult to figure out how to do properly. If you've ever plaid Skyrim imagine if Fireball was an Expert spell instead of an Apprentice level. Of course because of this difference it would do something along 400 points of fire damage instead of 40 lol.
People can only harbor so much magical energy a day. Once you're out you cannot cast anything but the weakest easiest of spells. The more you practice and learn about magic the more you can harness.
Does that make sense?

You can learn arcane magic it's just harder since it's origins exist before our own world. It's harder to study and more difficult to comprehend on the same level as natural.

Also, I'm not quite sure what you're describing since my experience with Skyrim/Elder Scrolls is null. I have the game, mind you, but I've never played it. I figured using magic would be like burning energy like normal, so eating and sleeping would replenish. Also, what would be considered weakest, easiest of spells? What might be hard for someone might be significantly easier for someone else and require much less energy.
I sort of wish all this would be covered before so I wouldn't feel like I've hit a wall and have to scrap my ideas. @_@

I think my character might have music that she has written. Like composing. She's trying to write a piece that would open the way to God, whom she assumes is real, but figures is just another Immortal like her. She wonders if perhaps she is God, or a godlike being (like you said). But she is a composer, and I think she has tons of compositions, stretching back millennia. She doesn't remember writing most of them, but playing the music is what makes her realize that there are memories she has no access to.

Oh yeah I forgot I swapped that order. Okay then.
But if I covered too much you wouldn't read it now would you? lol
Something simple would be a mage hand like spell that spawns a magical hand that can function as an extra hand and fly to unreachable places to do the caster's bidding. Of course it is fully under the whim of the caster and does not have a mind of it's own.
Or a magical push or something.
And yes, per day wasn't quite accurate to describe how much energy you store so yes it would replenish after enough rest, but just like normal if you keep tanking your energy and resting only long enough to recover then doing it again, you'll exhaust yourself like if you work out too much back to back.
How about this, you tell me what your idea is and we'll just go from there. It might be better than whatever I have in mind.

So then using magic a lot would cause one to develop endurance and stamina for such things, as working out a lot would do. Mostly I was thinking my character does magic. And they are very good at it.

Perhaps give them a limiter such as incantation or alchemical processes or something? I dunno.

No the limiter is that even being really good at it you'd still be limited. Basically, yes doing it a lot would build up more energy, but that doesn't mean you're going to nuke the planet.
I'd say at most you'd be able to cast about three fireballs a day at this point, five max which in this world is INSANE and you'd be quite exhausted afterward. Not to mention you don't just yell fireball and it sails through the air instantly. You have to take a few seconds to harness that kind of energy.
At that level, low level low effort stuff can be done almost indefinitely and you should be able to sense magic too.
High level spells are the 10 mile sprint of the magical world. Even if you can rest enough to do it again, your body will exhaust so that you won't build up your max stamina for a while. If you fully exhaust yourself you will naturally need a full 6 to 8 hours of rest before your body completely recuperates.
However, once you start to get your memories and powers back your knowledge would expand further. Maybe you've done some training in the east on chi and ki and learned to harness your energy fast and easier? Maybe you've discovered how to use some kind of wormhole effect for arcane energy allowing your to store abhorrent amounts of it? Dunno, but once we have our memories back we will be much more powerful.

Nope. No reason to. You have a very clear idea on what you want (even though you neglected to share in the beginning >_> ) and it's your world, your rules. So I'll just try and figure out something else to do and try not to get discouraged (which happens very very easily).

Like I said before, your idea may be better than mine lol. I only even came up with the rules cause I was asked about them. Before that I didn't really have a clue how I wanted the specific rules of magic to work. Was just gonna see how it played out. I like to use questions as trampolines.

I figured since there were more species besides human, then there would very definitely be magic.

Perhaps I'll play with your magic system Zeph. A studious scholar might be a good candidate for such a thing anyways. But he won't be the 3 fireballs a day sort at least not before he gets his memories back.

I will stick to my music and forgo this silly magic stuff. Music is the only magic I need. Or something like that. I haven't come up with a character name yet and it's not working out well for me. I have the basic structure of the addition down. It's going to be kind of an introspective. Probably first person, though I'll make it clear the addition isn't in first when I switch to third and have something happen. It'll be about music and how it triggers feelings and sensations that are so vivid, it's almost as if she's remembering things. And stuff like that.
And she is a red head.

Cool cool Mynt I'm sure your add will be fine. If these first adds gets out of the way I'm sure we'll all fall right into character and this'll come easy.
