I see this board isn't used much, so I thought I would post a question. When creating or participating in a campfire, what is best to go with? Fanfiction type or something original?

I prefer original type campfires, but mostly because I don't get/understand the thing with fanfiction.

I've been involved in both. I do prefer original, but there is something about fanfiction that I like as well especially for those shows, or books that end abruptly, or just doesn't go the direction you expected.

I have been in a few fanfiction campfires also, but they were mostly about sticking original characters in the book/show world. That is different, I think. Then the world and rules are already established. But when it comes to writing about the characters in the story- no thank you. I don't understand the want or desire to do that.

Well, when you put it that way, yeah I don't care for that either. I do enjoy writing for an original character thrust in the established world though.

But joining an original campfire pretty much works out the same, it just takes a little more effort and time to get everyone on the same page.
