This story takes place on Vergelle which is the largest continent in the world. Its center lies above the equator with it's southernmost point crossed by it.
Imyr is the central country on Vergelle with it's space encompassing a larger area than all but on country. It is considered the homeland of Human races and is a result of the conquest lead by Eirgyle and finished by Abner to take control of the central lands occupied by humans. Imyr is a social hub and center of trade from several other nations. The central city of New Ordellia is rich and prosperous but there is a huge chasm between the rich and the poor. It is not very welcoming to visitors who don't have lots of money.
The people of Imyr have been oppressed more often than not and for the rich whoever holds the coin and the power holds the respect be it man or female. For the poor they are all so far under the boot that everyone is equally low. Men with power are often very chauvinistic and view women (and sometimes other men) as objects and play things. Women who make it big often choose not to associate with many men.
Bronwynn is the home of dragons. Dragons are incredibly intelligent and long lived creatures and have as many diverse races and social systems than humans thought the two are very different. Dragons have long since given up the ways of conquest and chosen to reside peacefully in their own land. Some can even take the form of a human.
Their lands are in the east and along the lush coasts and are mostly mountains and hills. Their cities are virtually impossible to lay siege to and their people are all possessing of great dragonic power. Some humans have taken to the lands of Bronwynn and typically reside in the lower province of Anatolie. It is considered the safest place in the world for humans if they can become accustomed to the life there.
Some dragons are 'lost' when their parents pass before their cresting period when the child rises to adulthood and often take the path of the mercenary to the other lands. They are considered lucky if they can find a partner in the Anatolie humans who have developed the ability to bond with them.
The south is the land of the Elves who have finally united after thousands of years of cultural splits and wars. Their lands are separated into four regions called Saskaria, Ellenwoad, Hyu Dara, and Onus Pearl. Their hair color can be silvery white, black, brown, blond (Saska only) or dark red. Eyes range from orange, purple, blue, green, and brown.
Saskaria is the south land home of the Sand Elves or Saska. They are tan skinned and long eared with almond eyes and curvy or fit slender builds typically shorter than humans (5'2 to 5'8 typically). Like all elven races their people are often considered extremely beautiful and thus during times of raids and such they are targets of slavers. They make their home in their arid lands and have the ability to create and farm oases which they have founded their cities on. They are gifted in magic of the enchanting school and admire thriftiness, grace, and reservation.
Ellenwoad is the western region covered in lush greenery of forests and jungle. The Spring Elves or Ellia are around the same size and build of the Saska albeit more on the slim side and with golden or fair skin. They specialize in magics that involve nature and health and are immune to poisons and diseases typically associated with other races. Ellia are very protective of their homes and still value the strength of warriors in their hunters and guardians. They value serenity, protectiveness, and hospitality. Bow skills are universal in this region.
Hyu Dara is the easternmost region crested by the ocean and dotted with islands. The Rain Elves or Hyunii live here. It borders the south end of Bronwynn's mountainous Anatolie and shares peaceful relations with the people their. Their people are olive skinned or darker beige in color. They are extremely adept swimmers and their transformation magics have drawn the envy of even some dragons and spawned the legend of the mer people. Some believe there are Hyunii living in a city under the waves. They are a very trade-happy people and export lot of sea salt and rare fish into the mainland from their islands. They value festiveness, generosity, and creativity.
Opus Pearl is the northernmost region with plains and high mesas dotting its scape. The Pearl Elves or Opus live here and the are the tallest (5'6" to 6'3") of the elven races often built slender to the point of straightness but sometimes curvy to the point of unreal. Their men seem able to bulk up a bit more than other races, but hard work isn't prominent in these lands. They value trade even more so than the Hyunii and can afford to do so with their alchemic and transmutative magics. Their people are pale and fair with mostly blond or white hair. Their cities are built on the mesas and built high and luxurious. They value luxury, thriftiness, and frugality.
Zule is the western lands filled with Zarii which are people who seem to hybrid of man and beast. They are extremely diverse and often hunting the creature they emulate and their prey in scarcity to maintain their strong sense of balance and harmony. Legends of werewolves and the like sprouted from this region. From the small and swift Hagat (mouse person) to the huge and hulking Vhii (Elephant person) the Zarii only relate to creature that live on land. They value harmony, balance, and tenacity.
Alara Durim is the northernmost land of Vergelle and is a combination of fields, forests, and mountains. The Areil live here. The Areil are a winged light haired and light skinned people that live in the walled and heavily isolated country. Their people are incredibly beautiful and their highly valued White Winged members have been captured and hunted and the like for years and often mistaken as angels. The Areil have little faith in humans and thus have closed themselves off years ago with their incredible magic. They terraformed their borders and raised a wall of stone to keep most outsiders out. Before that they shared an amicable relationship with the elven people.
Areil can all fly as their wings are large but only a few out of every hundred are born with white wings and the White Winged are particularly adept at healing and destructive magics when trained. Their social system is built on an elected council with the White King at the head of it. Though his title is king it's more symbolic than literal. They value honor, generosity, and kindness.
Areil women are naturally enchanting and thus culturally men are obligated to be very protective of any woman in their presence when they meet other races on rare occasions. Areil that leave Alara Durim are not allowed to return.
